The Mapocho River (in mapudungun Mapu chuco, ” water that penetrates the land”) flows from the Andes mountains onto the west and divides Chile’s capital Santiago in two. With it’s 145 kms long, the Mapocho flow across 16 districts of the Greatest Santiago conurbation: Lo Barnechea, Vitacura, Las Condes, Providencia, Recoleta, Independencia, Santiago, Renca, Quinta Normal, Cerro Navia, Pudahuel, Maipú, Padre Hurtado, Peñaflor, Talagante and El Monte.

Bicycle touring is a form of cycling where riders travel long distances, prioritizing pleasure and endurance over utility or speed.
Not oil propelled cars, main roads, straight highways, speed, landscape consumption but human propelled bikes, side roads, unpaved tracks, slowing down, landscape enjoyment.

The Andes is continuous chain of highland along the western coast of South America. The range is over 7,000 km long and an average height of about 4,000 m. Extended over seven countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela) is the world’s longest continental mountain range. Tantauco Park (that its almost a third of the Chiloe Island) is an attractive ecotourist destination due to the remarkable biodiversity of its nearly untouched Valdivian temperate (young) rainforest with abundant ferns, lichens and clear waters. This is an utter quiet of true wilderness.

When it is winter in the northern hemisphere, it is summer in the southern.

By convention, one of the world’s seven continents (the second smallest and the third most populous); by facts, the birthplace of Western culture. From high altitudes to lowlands, from big cities to uninhabited landscapes -passing by crowded touristic clichés-, here are some shots of Europe.

Zonas alejadas, olvidadas, lejos del centro y de la atención. Paisajes “feos”, anti postales, lugares donde la ciudad no alcanza. Áreas intermedias, espacios dejados, ignorados, testigos y rehenes de una marcha acelerada y desmesurada. Zonas degradadas, polígonos y áreas industriales en desuso, ruinas. Intersticios que intentan ser liberados y resignificados en un sentido estético y poético; metáfora de heridas abiertas, fisuras y grietas donde se cuela la nostalgia, el desconcierto y la desolación.

El espacio público ha sido radicalmente reemplazado como lugar de encuentro por los centros comerciales. Todo, literalmente todo, ocurre en el mall mediando la sola condición del consumo. Y ni siquiera es necesario que este consumo sea real, efectivo y activo, pues ya la sola presencia de un sujeto en la dinámica del centro comercial lo convierte inmediatamente en un consumidor pasivo, simbólico, de imágenes, de deseos, que algún día, más temprano que tarde, intentará satisfacer.
