The Mapocho River (in mapudungun Mapu chuco, ” water that penetrates the land”) flows from the Andes mountains onto the west and divides Chile’s capital Santiago in two. With it’s 145 kms long, the Mapocho flow across 16 districts of the Greatest Santiago conurbation: Lo Barnechea, Vitacura, Las Condes, Providencia, Recoleta, Independencia, Santiago, Renca, Quinta Normal, Cerro Navia, Pudahuel, Maipú, Padre Hurtado, Peñaflor, Talagante and El Monte.
